An Impossible Truth: Frischling Claims He Flew on Air Force One with Al Gore!

Former Vice President Al Gore... in a photo NOT taken by Steven Frischling.
Another great submission by a loyal FishFraud reader:
Let's not forget this one about Frischling's claim to have flown on the President's 747 with Al Gore. Since he is a self-proclaimed aviation expert he would know that Al Gore had his own plane when he was in office and there aren't any trips that I could find where he would have flown on the president's 747 instead of his own Air Force Two plane, a modified 757. Also worth noting that he wasn't really affiliated with any agency at the time that would have put him in a seat on a flight on either one of those planes.

"There are almost no photos available from the interior of AF One, except certain executive office areas. I have traveled on AF Two while working as a news photographer and remember explicit instructions that photography on board was banned, except during approved times in specific areas. When the Secret Services says this stuff you try to list (getting tossed from the press pool is bad, it tends to piss off your clients)."

This is pretty funny. Let me first give you a little background on who flies on Air Force one and two.

THE WHITE HOUSE PRESS POOL
The White House press pool for still photographers consists of AP, AFP, Reuters, a rotating "agency" pool (which Getty is part of) and a magazine/newspaper (currently held by the New York Times). AP, AFP and Reuters travel with the president everywhere and are considered the "tight pool". They travel on Air Force One, in motorcades and are always with the president when he has any movements. They are issued hard card White House press credentials. The agency pool only travels in presidential motorcades when the president has movements within close proximity to the White House. The agency pool rotates between (I believe) 8 agencies and commits a photographer from each agency to three days a month covering the White House. Photographers in the agency pool DO NOT (except on rare occasions) travel on Air Force One. The traveling press pool pays a hefty price to travel on AF1 and in motorcades with the president with an annual price tag in excess of a million dollars per agency. If other press does for some reason pay to go on of the president's overseas trips, they do not fly on AF1 but instead are put on a charter. These same rules pretty much apply to AF2.

It is very rare that photographers travel with the VP. But, in cases where they would, it would likely be members of the WH pool or a magazine/newspaper photographer (like NYT, Time or Newsweek) who had been granted special access. One exception was in the 2000 campaign. When Al Gore was campaigning for his bid to be president he used AF2 as his campaign plane and had members of the traveling press on board. I assume they also had a charter for overflow like Bush did during his campaign in 2004. During Bush's 2004 campaign only the WH wire pool flew on AF1, everyone else was on a charter. I have never seen any Al Gore photos by Frischling so that pretty rules out him being on Gore's campaign (if you have really covered a campaign for any length of time, you will be able to find pictures online). Also, photographers are dorks when it comes to having your photo taken in front of cool or unique planes that you have been on since riding on AF2 or any other plane like that is usually a once in a lifetime experience. Surely he would have had a photo of himself in front of AF2 before the flight. I know I have pictures of myself in front of planes like that.

Also he specifically states that he was actually on the president's 747 Air Force One plane, the VC25A "same plane, just had Al Gore on board instead of Clinton." The president's 747 is used almost exclusively by the president (with the rare exception like when Cheney took it on an extended trip to the Middle East in March of 2002. The VP's AF2 plane is a C-32, a modified 757. Al Gore used the AF2 757 plane during his 2000 campaign, not the AF1 747. My research didn't reveal any occasion where Gore flew on the 747 during his time in the White House. I assume that his claim of flying on AF2 was between 1998 and 2000 when he had no real affiliation with any wire service or agency which makes his claim even more absurd.

For the 10 millionth time we ask... WHERE ARE THE PHOTOS of these excursions?

What kind of news photographer flies TWICE with the vice president of the United States of America and has NO photos to show for it?

  5. Show us the photos. Show us the proof that you were there - not just inside you head.

The problem is that your ruined reputation as a man of honor immediately spells BULLSHIT.

Prove that you were there. Simple as that, really.

  6. wow, Andrew finally acknowledged a post's content!

We don't need to prove he didn't, since he's already been outed as a pathological liar time and time again. And he has never worked for any agency that would have given him access to the VP, so the story is ridiculous.

Once again, what kind of photographer flies with the VP of the US, TWICE, and leaves those photos off his portfolio?

He can easily prove he did and shut this blog down by producing photos.

  7. Riding in AF2 ranks up there along with the biggest tall tale - his 48 oz tumor removed from his neck, then shooting a wedding soon after. Oops, tumOur...

  8. The reason there are NO photos and NO witnesses is simple: FishMan was on two missions as part of the SuperFriends. Batman and Robin had the BatMobile, WonderWoman had her invisible plane and Superman could fly himself. But FishMan, and his partner AquaMan, couldn't swim to get where they needed in time to stop the Legion of Doom! So Al Gore flew them there in his plane, but of course, taking photos was out of the question.

But Frischling and Fielding, aka FishMan and ButtBoy, still enjoy the amazing tales of Super Adventure. Who needs photos as proof when you can use your imaginations?

  9. "So he claims he flew on AF2. So what? Prove he did not!!"

holy hell, we may have found someone stupider than Frischling. I didn't think it was possible.

    "Prove that you were there."
Prove that he wasn't, you are the accuser. Yup, can't. Go figure.
"Once again, what kind of photographer flies with the VP of the US, TWICE, and leaves those photos off his portfolio?"
Dunno, you have all the fucking answers there Walter Cronkite.
Now you wouldn't be making up any phony-baloney stories now would you?? Why make accusations you can't prove?

  11. @157 got a linky for the slapdown in '03?

As a traveler who spends more time in planes than Fish ever will, I find him insulting on so many levels. Yet, industry people seem to love it. I think that they're so hooked on his bullshit that admitting he's wrong and has been wrong for all this time is so foreign to them that they're in even bigger denial than Fish is.

  12. Flown on AF2? Of course he has, just like he has flown with FAMs (Federal Air Marshals) shooting a story just after they were formed:

"I had flown with FAMs shooting a story shortly after they were formed. At that times FAMs were supposed to sit in aisles only, in a staggered pattern, not directly side by side. "

Of course, the air marshal program has been around since the '60s. Not bad for a guy born in 1975, shooting full time since high school......

    ReplyDelete
  13. I really don't see how that many people in the industry believe him. Most of his "fans" seem to be other fanboys and the occasional flight attendant who he flirts with.

If people in the industry truly bought into his bullshit, he would have contracts. He has none. The closest he came to recently was National Rental Car and that was canceled as soon as they discovered the truth about him.

  14. Hey Fishman and ButtBoy, here are my adventures!

I navigated the globe in a rowboat, surviving on granola bars and sea water distilled via a contraption made out of an iPhone.
I was held in a North Korean prison for three days, about to be executed, before escaping through an underground tunnel I dug with chopsticks.
While lost in the woods, I had a tea party with Big Foot.
I once went back to the year 1985 in a time machine made by my friend, Doc Brown.

I'd like to see you prove I did NOT do any of those things. I'm waiting.

  18. 2:26, during my time as a photojournalist, I once was in a plane where FishMan was doing ButtBoy up the ass. That's why ButtBoy is so turned on by shitting his pants - it brings back sexy memories for him. Naturally, since I was there as a photojournalist, I have photos to prove it.

But I will keep them to myself and instead challenge any of you to prove it DID NOT happen! That's right - you can't.

Fielding is just going to look the other way because Frischling gives him attention on Twitter and validates him by saying he's so great and going to be a super star photojournalist like he is.

    Pathetic.

It took me a while to determine that he was a fraud because he was good at inspiring you with exciting stories, adventures etc. It should be obvious to the kid that with this many people making light of Fish's "adventures" that there is something "Fishy," but sometimes it is tough when your hero does not measure up. Remember, Fish preys on kids like this because they believe him and make him feel important. I would go out on a limb and say that the Fielding kid also has some personality and self esteem issue, and Frischling makes him feel larger than life.

  35. It doesn't matter who is an idiot and who isn't. All these comments, pro or con, in no way change the contents of this blog. One doesn't even need to read any comments on this blog to realize what little character Mr. Frischling posses. This blog merely rehashes Mr. Frischling's online boasts, exaggerations, and outright lies using his own words he has posted all over the internet over the years.

Whether or not Mr. Frischling has ever been on Air Force 2 or not doesn't change the fact that he is facing two serious felony charges. If Mr. Frischling is found guilty of a felony (or two) he will not be able to pass a background check mandated of any job that "touches" an airplane. This means that Mr. Frischling would not even be able to get a job cleaning toilets (excuse me, lavatories) on an airliner.

To my knowledge, there is no law against convicted felons tweeting for a "living" so perhaps Mr. Frischling is smarter than we all think.

  38. Wait a second! Steven has been showing off those boring photos of Howard Dean for YEARS. They appear on every online portfolio he has so YOU KNOW if he had a photo of the VP he'd be pimping that photo in our face every few days (like his boring 9/11 images).

I mean this ass clown Steven Frischling has photos of himself sitting in coach on random commercial domestic flight so YOU KNOW if he ever was on AF2 there would be a frigin' gallery of images all over his websites and Facebook. Hell, we can find about 4 photos on line right now of him just sitting in airports (I LOVE the one where he has a laptop on top of his open camera roller so all of the passers by can see his big cameras and lenses so he can look like Mr. Big Time "I'm Very Busy Over Here Photojournalist" since he's DYING for a fellow traveler to ask him what he's doing)>

He Steven, only a week left until Welfare checks come out!!!!!!! You can be a big spender right before you have to go to jail.

The person who will be harmed the most when this is all said and done is his soon-to-be cell mate.

I don't care what that poor soul has done; he can be a mother raper, a father stabber, a father raper! There's no crime that fits a punishment of being trapped in a small room for months on end with Steven Loud Mouth Fake Ass Story Frischling.

Fish was caught while he was photographing Special Forces and was captured because he could not run quickly while carrying the 17 pound tumor that also prevented him from transmitting photos to paying clients. He will no doubt turn this into a blog about surviving prison life, taking advantage of the perks offered by Big Bubba to frequent visitors of the shower. He is an expert on all things.

-His best supporter in the world is a pedophile
-His 2nd best character witness is Andrew (need we say more about that?)
-He creates dozens of online personalities to give himself great feedback, while crowbarring his detractors from his own anonymous accts with an iron fist (all with the same atrocious grammar)
-He's too stupid to find free porn; its makes more sense to shaft a legitimate porn company out of their product for free
-His baby mama has Stockholm syndrome, and we begin to wonder what lengths she will go to hide her sperm donor's faults.
    -He sure moves around alot

Somewhere close to the four minute mark of this video, it is revealed that Mr Burnham was using two different screen names to communicate with what he thought was a 14 year old girl who wanted to lose her virginity.

Burnham uses the screen name uconnbluenwhite (also posing as a younger person) when he makes first contact with the girl and then tells her a 35 year old friend of his who goes by the screen name stevetakespix wants to have sex with a virgin.

It is very interesting that Rick Burnham, a friend of a photographer whose name is Steve, would use the name stevetakespix when trying to solicit sex from an underage girl.

This is such an odd choice of aliases for someone who has a friend named Steve who is a photographer. Why would someone, in an effort to have sex with an underage girl, immediately think of his friend who is a photographer when it came time to chose as screen name?

  62. Steven & Susannah,

It's so sad what your life has become. Just think about where you'd be in life if you had just, like everyone else, done what you were supposed to do?

Imagine it for a moment Steven. If you had kept shooting for the Globe or the AP and told the truth all the time you might be a respected photojournalist... that ship has sailed.

If you had just taken a few hours to edit and deliver those photos to all of those brides, you might be a respected and in-demand wedding photographer... that ship has sailed.

If you had just done what you were supposed to do with regard to the KLM blog then you might actually be a real airline blogger... that ship has sailed.

Imagine what life would be like for your family:
You could have money in the bank.
You could actually be married (you never married each other so Susannah could get more money out of Welfare).
You could live in a home that you own with no fear of being evicted.
You could both be driving cars that were made AFTER Clinton was in office.
You might have actually had a chance to fly on Air Force Two or even Air Force One by now.
You wouldn't be facing jail time.
You wouldn't have to wake up and see a blog FILLED with real professional who hate you.
You could actually be flying on real airplanes for real.
Your life wouldn't be an industry-wide punchline.

But you couldn't keep the lies from flowing from your brain to your fingers and right onto the keyboard long enough for ANY of your dreams to come true and you couldn't honor your commitments when people DID give you a chance... now look at what you've become.

It really is sad to think that this is your life at 36. You're too old to start over so you've thrown your life away. Now you'll never be any of the things you dreamed about.

You could actually be a real photojournalist right now today... think about that.

  70. It's nothing but a Yahoo map. Bad Tiny URL I think.

Thanks for the read this morning y'all. If you will excuse me, I have to get going and go shoot a D1 football game. Remember that, Fish? How much fun that was? You got to go spend a few hours hanging out with some good people you liked, shoot some football, xmit the photos on deadline, maybe hang out with some of the photographers after the game. Yeah, those were the days. Right, Steven.

Too bad all you get to do is sit around and Tweet while thinking about your impending court date.

  71. 5:34 is the harshest critique yet. No cursing, no insults, no rumors, just the cold, honest truth of Frischling's wasted time and potential.
But, Steven/Susannah, it's not too late to salvage your reputations. However, it starts with being honest about everything you've been called on, and, while internet forums and blogs are not exactly the bastions of truth, as you can well attest to, you're really going to need to go public and use those means if you want to start with a clean slate. Set the record straight to what's true and what's not. There are many, many journalists who read this site and laugh at you daily. They want to see you fail, and clamor for more stories. You can yell and complain all you want about that, but it just makes it worse. You've brought this all on yourself. And Andrew, if all that's been written about you is true, it is past time to humble yourself as well, or at least find a new profession, because your credibility is all but gone outside of Presswire.
This has been a very entertaining site to visit, and it could go on forever. It doesn't really matter what happens to any of them, as they have shown defiant stupidity in the face of logic over and over. Still, it'd be a much better ending if they would make the efforts to change their misguided ways toward a better life, because it's beyond pathetic as it is. You all can have the last laugh, just keep it to yourself if you do.
Of course, it's unlikely this will ever happen. Their latest attempt at wit in the form of childish ranting is expected shortly.

  72. I'd like Andrew Fielding to answer the question: Why is his photojournalism "mentor" no longer a working photographer? When was Frischling's last photo assignment? Why was it he was in the thick of the storm for Hurricane Irene yet the only photos he published were on his FB page? Why is it no agency or newspaper will associate with him?

Andrew, if this is where you want to be when you are 35, please continue the path you are on.

  73. Emailed the blog link to Karen Florin, staff writer for courts at the New London Day who first wrote about Frischling's arrest. Please email her directly if you have any stories to tell about this fraud Frischling. k.florin@theday.com

  74. Speaking of The Day, our intrepid hero had at least one freelance assignment for them in 2010:

I wonder if they use Felon-Freelancers? How about foul-mouthed, juvenile editors?
