I just have to say that after ALL if Frischling's "experience" he provides this as his "best of" take in 2007... Shooting outside just after noon on a bright sunny day? Are you kidding me? These are a perfect example of how if the photographer "looks" like there are doing something creative and getting down on the ground and rolling all over the frigging place, then the subjects are fooled into thinking the photographer is somehow creating something amazing. I'm willing to bet that Frischling was nervous as hell during this shoot and was truly grasping at anything that would make him look like he knew what he was doing. I'm sure the couple was being nice and complimenting him, but really thinking and hoping he had some crazy post-processing skills to make them look good. I mean, some of theses photos make the woman look like she is on death's door and her fiance is consoling her. I could go on, but the photos speak for themselves...
Seems the #FreeFish flight attendant who posted the rant to the airline industry on his blog isn't himself above lying and making up BS to his airline's passengers http://brajit.blogspot.com/2011/02/grannys-american-idol.html
So this guy was able to outwit the elderly grandmother of a potential American Idol finalist, and seems to relish in the misery and uncooperativeness he can foist upon the passengers and begrudgingly serves celebratory drinks when the grandkid makes the final cut.
What a miserable soul. What a terrible thing to want to share about who you really are at the end of the day.

Remember I am the Easter Bunny and Cadbury just cut my job so I'm upset, give me a fucking break already! Who cares about Fish, I just lost my fucking job!
can you imagine her looking for a job, and having her prospective employer Google her and find out about the choices she's made?
funny how she's either Steven Frischling's wife, his girlfriend or merely the mother of their children, depending on what serves her purpose at the immediate moment.
Don't forget Susannah Seefeldt is also the proprietor of "Shoreline Lifestyle Photography" which has this exclusive contract with this amazing photographer who is UNNAMED (because his reputation is pure poison to any business associated with him?)
"Shoreline Lifestyle Photography's exclusive contract photographer provides our clients with more than a decade-and-a-half of experience creating images for major international news outlets, Fortune 100 corporations, and has worked with private commission clients around the Globe. Our exclusive contract photographer's accolades include awards from The Associated Press, the National Press Photographers Association, the New England Press Association, and the New York Press Association. His work has appeared in Life Magazine's Year in Pictures, Time Magazine's Year in Pictures, and Life Magazine's Annual Photo Album and has been ranked among the Top 35 Wedding Photojournalists in the world by the Wedding Photojournalists Association."
By the way, Steven Frischling claims he had nothing to do with Shoreline Lifestyle Photography whatsoever, even though he registered the domain name. It's just so hard to catch him in a lie.
The NPPA News Photographer magazine's lede story this month is all about spot news and they didn't use a single image from Steven E. Frischling. I find that an outrageous disregard of a major talent who has been a mainstay in photojournalism for years! What could they have been thinking?
"Our exclusive contract photographer's accolades include awards from The Associated Press, the National Press Photographers Association, the New England Press Association, and the New York Press Association."
exactly what awards has Steven Frischling won, when, and for what photos?
4"55. Ohhh noooo! You're ruining it man! Are these your best efforts? Come on, you're not even funny. No humor. Give us something intelligent. Witty. Smart. Something that makes sense. Something useful.
his hilarious "resume" - he can't keep his tenses straight and refers to "the Europe."
I think he was fired from all these jobs.
He worked for the Brattleboro Reformer which is a MediaNews paper. He says he was the "chief photographer." Pretty sure he made that up and he was the only photographer. Dinky paper.
Interesting he does not list his job at the Bristol Press in Connecticut? Pretty sure this was where the infamous photo took place. Not sure if they found out about that but obviously he was fired as he did not list it.
Here's his stupid NPPA story about making buddies with a cop, who was "lost" in Bristol even though he was from there.
the local volunteer fire department gave him a fire chief sticker when he worked at the paper. a light bulb went on over his head and he said to himself "I'm a faux-tographer and now I have this sticky badge that says I am a chief, so I guess that makes me that chief faux-tographer of this one member photo staff"
I called the reformer a few years ago and asked if they had ever had a chief photographer and they said no. think I am lying? call for yourself. 802-254-2311
5:35 "Interesting he does not list his job at the Bristol Press in Connecticut? Pretty sure this was where the infamous photo took place. Not sure if they found out about that but obviously he was fired as he did not list it."
According to Steven himself, they knew. Here is his explanation. How's that for research, shit-for-brains? BTW, is that what your parents used to call you?
XXXXX Wrote: I am not aware of anyone finding out who the responsible party is... I do know Steven wrote, "... I have no explanation aside from a girl I have not dated in about three years is a computer hacker for a living and she has decided to make my life a living hell..." Then went on to say, "...The photo sent to the NPPA-L, my ex-girlfriend created on her computer..." Was he standing at her side when the image was created? -------------------------------------------------
Richard:
Kindly drop this conversation. If you wish to go and dig for the facts, do so OFF the NPPA-L. I know who the photo was created by, because it was sent close to six weeks ago to a number of people who I had e-mail addresses for saved on my e-mail address book. A few folks who recieved this photograph are on the NPPA-L, and I have known for sometime, and know that I would do no such thing. After the photograph was distributed from an AOL address, I recieved an e-mail from that AOL address telling me that they did this to me. I was able to find out who owns the AOL address as my Brother works for America Online in a somewhat senior capacity, often dealing with AOL's security team.
If you wish to believe that the photograph is of me, and was sent by me to the NPPA-L, then so be it. I have no control over your personal thoughts. I admit I have been an @$$hole on the NPPA-L at times, I admit I am arrogant, pig headed, obnoxious, often can't be told anything once I am set in my ways, and I seem to collect enemies like baseball cards, but that has nothing to do with my professional life. My personal and professional life are kept at a safe distance, although my jackass personality seems to be in both lives.....but in no way what-so-ever would I ever wholesale subject a group of professionals to ANY part of my personal life, much less an image such as the one sent to the NPPA-L.
I know who created the image, I know who sent it to the NPPA-L, and AOL's Net Security is checking into the ownership of the ISP account that logged into my AOL and HotMail accounts. Once hard proof is located, and it can be difficut with the internet, legal action will be taken. Since AOL does a large amount of business with the company that employs the person who did this, at the least this person will lose their job.
......if you will excuse me , I need to go see my publisher in about a half hour and explain to him why a photo of me, in such a position, was sent to him, the newsroom, the managing editor, five executive e-mail boxes of the parent company from an AOL account sent up for the paper's photo dept.
5:08. I'll tell you what I'm interested in. Two things. One, some peace and quiet on Sportsshooter. Not having to listen to this guy talk endlessly about himself and brag on and on about how he has done one amazing thing after another. It's impossible not to have him butt into some conversation and start talking about stuff just so he can talk about himself – or give advice about stuff he heard from a guy who heard from a guy. He gives advice that is outrageously stupid sometimes. And, like it’s been repeated over and over on this blog, it is annoying to read someone’s stories that are obviously morphing over time. He eventually becomes a joke. It's not good enough to say, just don't read him then. He's puts people in danger by not being honest. Two, he is insulting my friends who have gone into real war zones to take pictures. My friends are confident courageous people who don’t brag. Their work speaks for itself. I don’t know every photographer, or a lot of them. I don’t need to. I know enough of them to be in complete awe of what they do. It’s beyond heroic. These people have EARNED that honor and distinction. They come home with photos so that I am informed about something horrible and important. With SF the story is always about himself. I would like to see my friend’s honor not tarnished by half truths, lies and bragging. They’re too busy to complain all over the internet about SF. I know one thing. The few that I know aren’t sitting there waiting to come to his defense. Am I jealous? What of? I have my own work, my own friends and they see what I do and they see I'm happy. I have a great time working in the places I work. I don't have to go to a Super Bowl and tell other people who have been to Super Bowls all about it just so they know I was there. They would know where I’ve been because they’re interested in my work. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m not. I just told you what I’m interested in.
Sociopaths tend to be compulsive liars with a grandiose sense of self. They also lack the ability empathize with the pain and problems of other people.
FishDick's injuries. one or at least 80% of a kidney removed Parts of his throat/neck removed scoped, etc At least 2 shoulder issues Broken teeth Concussions Eye Problems Broken fingers Broken leg
Has it occurred to anyone that he might have received all these injuries from people beating the living shit out of him? Probably co-workers that had to listen to his bullshit all day. Can you imagine sitting in a paramedic's rig, listening to him drone on and on about himself all night? This is the type of person that would be shot by his own soldiers in combat. I think they call it fragging.
"it was sent close to six weeks ago to a number of people who I had e-mail addresses for saved on my e-mail address book. I used to be on AOL (like everyone else in the 1990s). The AOL address book was saved locally and not to their servers. I remember this pretty well because when I signed in from my girlfriend's computer, I could not access my address book. It would bring up her address book.
But it was a long time ago. Does anyone else remember when they changed this?
5:12 said "What leads any of us to believe there are indeed any "professional photographers" stepping into this vomit basin? It's all anonymous."
Well lets see now. How about Mike Brice. You know, the guy that this post is dedicated to and that YOU JUST POSTED A COMMENT IN!!!! DUMB ASS!!!! He is a real wedding photographer.
And then there is Sam Morris. We've all witnessed how you have handled that and the thinly veiled threat to Mike's daughter is a real classy move too.
There are several more professionals here http://www.sportsshooter.com/message_display.html?tid=37887 that have commented, but lets not let the facts get in the way of your bullshit.
I'll tell you what I'm interested in. Two things. One, some peace and quiet on Sportsshooter. Not having to listen to this guy talk endlessly.... March 8, 2011 5:57 PM
^Perhaps Steven Frischling - who as a photographer has been sued for fraud and breach of contract and lied repeatedly about his experiences - is not the best judge of what makes a "professional photographer."
The comment that I asked to be removed was a personal attack against my daughter and has nothing to do with this. It was juvenile and pointless.
You notice I didn't ask that the comment mocking my dog photo be removed. He can mock my dog all he wants.
I didn't ask for the link on my site to be posted here, but I am not afraid to sign my name to everything I say online - and I don't have three different stories, either.
^It's notable that Steven and Susannah (or their supporters, if you want to play along) clearly have NO defense or argument whatsoever with the blog content. They can't explain why he has so many wildly different versions of the same stories, such as the damning stories about the same-sex marriage coverage. They can't produce photos that back up his various claims, such as being in war zones, in hurricanes, etc. Total silence on all of this!
But yet they are making a lot of noise about comments the blog readers are leaving? It's quite pathetic.
March 8, 2011 6:47 PM You bring up Sam Morris and Mike Brice. Why would these respectable guys get involved in this mud-slinging-internet-bully-brawl and not expect to get involved in this mud-slinging-internet bully-brawl.
Mike Brice said... The comment that I asked to be removed was a personal attack against my daughter and has nothing to do with this. It was juvenile and pointless. March 8, 2011 8:13 PM
With all due respect Mr. Brice. I'm not taking sides but why is it off-limits to involve family members when the majority of the posts here against SF are basically involving HIS family members? Not defending why or why not SF deserves them but why are you participating in this blog that does indeed involve family members but seem so adamantly AGAINST your family member's involvement?
So sorry to bum anyone out, but this is not SF. Believe it or not.
"You bring up Sam Morris and Mike Brice. Why would these respectable guys get involved in this mud-slinging-internet-bully-brawl and not expect to get involved in this mud-slinging-internet bully-brawl."
Sam Morris addressed you straight on. He called you on your bullshit and challenged you to explain yourself. So why couldn't you respond to him honestly as well?
All Mike did (as far as we can tell) is post a link on his blog.
All Mike did (as far as we can tell) is post a link on his blog. March 8, 2011 8:41 PM
And ACCUSE someone of "a personal attack against my daughter." Prove the attack sir. What was said, sir? Why ask SF those things yet Mr. Brice can't provide ONE supposed "attack?"
Accusations are like farts, they smell but have no lasting affects.
Sam Morris addressed you straight on. He called you on your bullshit and challenged you to explain yourself. So why couldn't you respond to him honestly as well? March 8, 2011 8:41 PM
Dunno there blog-god. May have to ask SF that one.
Very pathetic indeed. I've been following this story for 2-3 months now and it gets worse and worse everyday. ...and it appears that SF is spending much of his time concerning himself with what people are saying here. It's scary. It has to come to an end at some point and I don't see this ending well. He's dug himself into some pretty deep holes before (like when he copied the TSA directive from Elliot.org), but this is truly life changing. Dude, check yourself into some kind of rehab and just think about where you are and where you're going. If not for you, then for your kids.
Nice try. As we've told you, we know who is posting here and where they are posting from. You are the same individual as 5:00, 5:36, 7:26, 7:43, 8:49 etc etc and all the various comments referring to the Easter Bunny, accusing us of racism, anti-semitism etc.
"why is it off-limits to involve family members when the majority of the posts here against SF are basically involving HIS family members?"
which posts involve Steven's family members?
It's been mentioned in a few comments that he is not friends with his family on Facebook. Nobody has named them or ridiculed them.
He is not married so he does not have a wife, despite his claims to the contrary. Isn't that correct?
There isn't much discussion of his children except for people saying they feel sorry for them (naturally) and that he should get his ass off Twitter and this blog and go get a job to take care of them.
6:04 PM wrote: "Sociopaths tend to be compulsive liars with a grandiose sense of self. They also lack the ability empathize with the pain and problems of other people."
Well said, and it's probably why some readers here felt sorry for Frischling and suggested he get help. But he just continues on with childish, asinine responses, and it's hard to continue to pity someone so defiantly stupid. And why bring up Mike Brice's kids? If he's concerned with anyone's kids, they should be his own. I really couldn't care less what happens to Frischling in the future, but I do genuinely feel bad for his poor children. They have a huge uphill battle ahead of them. Not only will they possibly grow up in poverty, but I doubt they'll ever have any respect for ol' dad. I would suggest starting a fund right here on this blog for the kids in the name of whatever they decide to change their names to, but somehow I doubt the money would reach them. Just got to hope they will turn out somewhat normal and stay far away from the family business.
which posts involve Steven's family members? March 8, 2011 9:01 PM
We must be reading two different blogs. Those references to his son's circumcision - for starters - were on that other blog. So sorry.
And we all know exactly what was said in that "personal attack against my daughter" don't we? I guess we can leave well enough alone for now, or can we.
Steven is the one who posted that story about his son's circumcision in the first place. (Rather inappropriate for a sports photography forum.)
People were commenting on why the story was so unbelievable. It makes no sense.
If Steven did not have this documented history of fabricating stories, nobody would be discussing his son's alleged botched circumcision. But he does, and therefore, everything he says is being openly mocked.
And wouldn't you agree that Steven Frischling and his children have much more worrisome issues than comments from anonymous people on Blogger?
I'm wondering why this blog does not come up on the first page of a google search when searching "Steven Frischling". There has to be more mentions of Steven Frischling here than on any other site, so I'm wondering why the priority is not higher for a Steven Frisching search. SEO experts?
There is also a big difference between making fun of someone and making threats toward them. Unfortunately, a sociopath wouldn't recognize that difference.
WTF! Those photos are TERRIBLE. I hope he has since run the Lensbaby(camera lens) over with a large truck. It really has no business being used.
And the Nader photo would be perfect for one of those Photoshop gag images where you fill something into the middle of the frame(i.e. Fark.com) and write a funny caption.
he was trying to be "different" by using a lens baby. unfortunately, he was using it incorrectly and just ended up being another series of shitty frischling photos. these are the photos that he claims to have sold like hotcakes through is "agency"
The one with the boxed set is the worst. Who would use that? Looks positively posed. It would be better to have gone to a watch party instead of having some sad woman by herself.
Lensbaby are a lot of fun to use. It's difficult to say what is a successful lensbaby photo and what is not, but you should take a look at some of the artists and photographers that have used them - it's a fun technique. You can decide what makes a good one.
"U.S. COAST GUARD PATROLS Sunken oil tankers litter the shallow waters of the Khawr Abd Allah Waterway, near the entrance to the Port of Umm-Qasar, February 9, 2004, Umm-Qasar, Iraq. The oil tankers are believed to have been sunked by the Iraqi military, during the Iran-Iraq war. ( Steven E. Frischling / World Picture News)"
SF enters a discussion about lens baby and tilt shift in journalism and discuss his use of the lens baby at the game: http://www.sportsshooter.com/message_display.html?tid=26773
"I sent my take to the client, and 48hrs later the photo agency I was working with. My total after sales from the Series was around 50 sales, nearly 40 of them were for images shot with the LensBaby of the Sox at bat."
I think the comments are starting to cross the line - as much as it pains me to say it. And you will see that I am signing my name to this comment.
And while I support the blog - and the foundation it is built on - to show the cases where Fish has lied and defrauded people - the comments are not contributing to that.
It is one thing to say he took money from a couple and never delivered the images. That is fraud - and it should be called out.
To mock his use of a lensbaby - well that's an artistic decision. And for me, photography is art. I am not going to question the nature of the images - that is for the photographer to decide.
Plus, I wouldn't want people dissecting every lens choice, shutter speed or f-stop decision I made.
So while I am not the owner of this blog, I would hope my willingness to attach my name to my comment would make you pause and think - are you contributing to the evidence gathering or are you just piling on to be mean. Spend some time looking in the forums you belong to for conflicting stories. That would be a better use of your time than search old wire service archives. Heck, at least he was putting his images out there - that was more than I was doing in 2002-2004.
^Thank you Mike. However, Frischling claims he sold these particular photos from the World Series 40 times. Who would believe this? The quality of these photos is thus up for debate.
"Plus, I wouldn't want people dissecting every lens choice, shutter speed or f-stop decision I made."
Of course not. But if you ran around claiming your images of Iraqi war zones won awards when you had never been to a war zone, then people probably would be dissecting all those things.
Frischling made a conscious choice to brag about fictitious exploits to gain attention for himself and possibly also for financial profit (to dupe new clients into thinking he was better than he actually is). Now he is being made fun of for it. Why do you say that is mean?
"Our exclusive contract photographer's accolades include awards from The Associated Press, the National Press Photographers Association, the New England Press Association, and the New York Press Association."
If Frischling has ever taken any brilliant photos that might have won awards, someone, please post them.
Holy fuck, that might be the worst caption that ever was or ever will be written in the history of the universe.
"David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox gestures, as he argues with officials, that his ball was fair and should be a home run, when officials ruled the ball to be foul, in the fifth inning, as the Boston Red Sox host the St. Louis Cardinals, in the 2nd game of the 2004 World Series, at Fenway Park, Boston, MA., Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004."
Holy fuck. No wonder why he went to so many schools. He probably failed out of them all because he barely speaks English.
I don't think the quality of the photo is what's at stake. He can make lousy shots for the rest of his life if he wants to and sell them to whoever wants to buy them (there is no accounting for taste, it never fails to surprise me at the choices some of my editors make). It's not a crime to take lousy pictures. It is a problem if he is lying about how many times he sold a shot, to whom he sold them, awards he hasn't won, places he hasn't been, experiences he hasn't had, worked for people he hasn't worked for, etc.
In fact, it's possible that the quality of his photos have been speaking for themselves over the years. If he has to lie this much to get attention, then it's certainly not his photos that are doing the speaking.

who is harvey, the new easter bunny? figures.
Don't forget Susannah Seefeldt is also the proprietor of "Shoreline Lifestyle Photography" which has this exclusive contract with this amazing photographer who is UNNAMED (because his reputation is pure poison to any business associated with him?)
ReplyDelete"Shoreline Lifestyle Photography's exclusive contract photographer provides our clients with more than a decade-and-a-half of experience creating images for major international news outlets, Fortune 100 corporations, and has worked with private commission clients around the Globe.

ReplyDeletehis hilarious "resume" - he can't keep his tenses straight and refers to "the Europe."
ReplyDeleteHere's his stupid NPPA story about making buddies with a cop, who was "lost" in Bristol even though he was from there.
http://bit.ly/ems2OQ
the local volunteer fire department gave him a fire chief sticker when he worked at the paper. a light bulb went on over his head and he said to himself "I'm a faux-tographer and now I have this sticky badge that says I am a chief, so I guess that makes me that chief faux-tographer of this one member photo staff"
ReplyDeleteI called the reformer a few years ago and asked if they had ever had a chief photographer and they said no. think I am lying? call for yourself. 802-254-2311
Steven shouldn't you be out looking for a job so your poor children don't have to live in your car?
ReplyDeletewhy don't you just go work at Walmart? You'll never be hired in the airline industry or as a photographer after what you've done.
Or you can take portraits at Sears.

Dunno there blog-god. May have to ask SF that one.
Very pathetic indeed. I've been following this story for 2-3 months now and it gets worse and worse everyday. ...and it appears that SF is spending much of his time concerning himself with what people are saying here. It's scary. It has to come to an end at some point and I don't see this ending well. He's dug himself into some pretty deep holes before (like when he copied the TSA directive from Elliot.org), but this is truly life changing. Dude, check yourself into some kind of rehab and just think about where you are and where you're going. If not for you, then for your kids.
ReplyDelete"I'm not taking sides"
ReplyDeleteNice try.
Again, wouldn't you agree he should do that?
then for your kids.

ReplyDeleteWell said, and it's probably why some readers here felt sorry for Frischling and suggested he get help.

We must be reading two different blogs. Those references to his son's circumcision - for starters - were on that other blog. So sorry.

Steven is the one who posted that story about his son's circumcision in the first place. (Rather inappropriate for a sports photography forum.)
ReplyDeletePeople were commenting on why the story was so unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteThis link comes up 4th on google with Steven E. Frischling and near the bottom of the page when just Steven Frischling.

ReplyDeleteI think the comments are starting to cross the line - as much as it pains me to say it. And you will see that I am signing my name to this comment.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I support the blog - and the foundation it is built on - to show the cases where Fish has lied and defrauded people - the comments are not contributing to that.
Thanks
Mike
^Thank you Mike. However, Frischling claims he sold these particular photos from the World Series 40 times. Who would believe this? The quality of these photos is thus up for debate.
ReplyDelete"Plus, I wouldn't want people dissecting every lens choice, shutter speed or f-stop decision I made."

Holy fuck. No wonder why he went to so many schools. He probably failed out of them all because he barely speaks English.
^Wow - 12 commas! Let's hope that epic caption gets noticed by our friends at fuckyeahsportsshooter.tumblr.com!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the quality of the photo is what's at stake.
